The government has developed Donald Trump that the UK can slap the revenge definitions of American imports while increasing fears of a global trade war.
Trade Minister Jonathan Reynolds announced that he had asked British companies to tell him what this step means for them.
The consultation that lasts for a month will end on May 1, after which the ministers will decide whether the British tariffs will be increased on American imports as “the last resort.”

Trump announced on Wednesday that it was a 10 % tariff on all UK imports to America, which was at the top of the 25 % tax he previously announced on cars and steel products.
“The belief remains the best way to the economic stability of workers is a negotiation deal with the United States that depends on our common strengths,” he told Reynolds.
“However, we reserve the right to take any action we see necessary if a deal is not secured.”
Kerr Starmer told business leaders earlier at Downing Street that “nothing outside the table” when it comes to the government’s response to the US President’s declaration.
He said: “This government will do everything necessary to defend the national interest of the United Kingdom, everything is necessary to provide the basis of security that workers need to continue their lives.
“This is how we behave and how we will continue to act: with pragmatism, cold heads and calm that focuses on the national interest.”
But the Libyan Democrats said that the government’s declaration was “very few, very late.”
“This was a work that should have been done once Trump entered his post and it appears that the ministers have been arrested for this announcement,” said Clayef Jones, spokesman for the Commercial Party.
“It is time for the United Kingdom to interact with our Commonwealth allies and the Europeans and gather an alliance of those wishing to stand before Trump’s trade war and protect our national interest.”
