Islamabad: Eight Pakistani car mechanics were shot in Iran late on Saturday, which angered and deepened fears that the country has become a center for anti -Pakistan fighters after Afghanistan.
National Army Balochistan (BNA), a less well -known separatist group, which claimed responsibility for the attack in Sistan Province, Palachistan, and the escalation of tensions between neighboring countries, and Pakistan called for rapid action. The Pakistani authorities said that the eight workers who grew up from Punjab – Pakistan Province, are the most intense population – and were killed in a workshop in Mahrastistan, near the borders of Afghanistan.
BNA framing the killings as a revenge against Punjabi’s dominance in the economic and political fields of Balochistan. “We will not allow strangers to exploit our lands and resources,” BNA said in a statement online. The costume has agreed with the broader rebellion with the leadership of groups such as the Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA).
Pakistani Prime Minister Shibaz Sharif described the attack as “barbarian”. He said, “We demand the perpetrators to justice quickly,” he urges Tehran to act. Sharif ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help the families of the victims and restore the bodies. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Isaac, issued a similar condemnation. Dar said: “This attack challenges our sovereignty. We cannot allow our citizens to target abroad,” Dar said.
Iran’s response was clearly measured. Ambassador Reda Amiri Mogadam condemned the killings as “inhuman and cheese”, describing terrorism as a “chronic ordeal” that requires regional cooperation. However, Tehran did not provide any concrete guarantees in taking coordination measures on groups such as BNA, which prompted the suspicion of Islamabad.
Thousands of Pakistanis, especially from the economically deprived areas, travel to Iran on a regular basis to take unofficial jobs in sectors such as vehicle reforms, construction and agriculture.
In January 2024, nine Pakistani workers were killed and three seriously injured in a similar attack in Saravancity, which is also located in the southeastern Iranian border region. As in the latest killings, victims worked in this case in a car repair store. This killing occurred at a time when Pakistan and Iran were trying to fix diplomatic relations after missile attacks and drones.
