Registration in the famous summer camps in Chicago Park opens this week, but some parents feel some shock of stickers.
Online registration was opened on Monday morning for Chicago Park District summer camp, west of California Street and all virtual programs. At nine in the morning on Tuesday, the online registration will be opened for the eastern California camps. The registration will be opened for gymnastics programs at the back.
The boycott programs include sports, fitness and arts, which have been provided for display on Park County website On April 7. Today’s camp works from June 23 to August 1, with most other summer programs from June 16 to August 10.
Last fall, the boycott said that the price increase in “modest” in summer camps will be included in this year’s budget. But for Johanna Paul, a mother of two children in Lincoln Park, that modest increase was a 40 % jump.
Her sons, between the ages of 7 and 9, attended the camp last summer in Ritwood Park. Children suffered an explosion, especially because they got swimming and played football.
“We have always heard wonderful things about Park County camps, but we haven’t had a chance to try until last summer,” Paul said. “They loved it. They run well and offer great activities with great value. In addition, lunch has been included.”
So they decided to subscribe again for this summer. But last week, when the boycott offered to programming this year, the camp price was for six weeks in Wrightwood $ 460 per child, up from the rate of last year of $ 330.
“With one child, you may be able to manage this increase. But for us, we must always double the price, and this cost has not been possible for us this year,” Paul said.
The Park region defended the increase in prices in a statement of the sun’s times. A spokesman for the registration costs of the camps in half in 2020, “to provide relief to families facing financial uncertainty,” a spokesman for the registration costs for camps in half in 2020 said.
“To return the fees to pre -incubation levels and processing the increasing operational costs, fees are raised for this summer,” the spokesman said in the statement. “Even with these modifications, daytime camps fees remain less than prenatal levels, and 2019 levels of 97 % of the Chicago gardens.”
The highest cost of this year’s camp will be $ 4 per hour and an average cost in all camps is $ 1.39 per hour. The boycott provides assistance to the families you need, including the payment and financial assistance plan for eligible families.
“The Chicago Park remains committed to providing exceptional experiences in the summer camp at an accessible price,” the statement said.
Paul’s children will not join the camps this summer due to the increase in prices. But she understands why the boycott raised prices and said it is still more affordable than the city’s private camps. Her children were also registered in other camps for this summer.
“I hope there will be more heads about the amount of the increase, and then I could manage my expectations,” Paul said. “It is still great and I think people definitely should do Park County Camps.”
Those who want to subscribe to the programs need to get active account To register. Park suggests an electronic mail and password examination, create a list of software wishes, update your account details and use the desktop or laptop for the optimal registration experience.
Personal registration takes place on Saturday and 21 April and It differs in the garden.
