The only traders urged Scottish to prepare to repair comprehensive taxes

People who work for their own account and owners in Scotland are urged to act now to avoid stampede at the last minute when the main changes in the tax system enter next year.

Tens of thousands of Scottish are expected to be among 780,000 people throughout the United Kingdom who must switch to making the digital tax tax from April 6 of next year.

Another 970,000 people will be required to join the plan in 2027.

Direct Scotland, which manages free service tax, encourages people now to be prepared for changes.

Under the new system, traders alone who earn more than 50,000 pounds will need to keep digital records and send quarterly updates to HMRC, rather than fill out the annual tax declaration.

By subscribing early in the HMRC test program, qualified taxpayers can reach the new system and avoid stress closer to the deadline.

The Direct Scotland advice said that the shift to memorizing digital records may make the tax management easier in the long run, reducing errors and saving time.

This also means less time to search for paperwork at the end of the tax year, where records can be updated by business owners while they are going.

And Andrew Bartlet, CEO of Direct Scotland, said:

“By adopting this new system, individuals can simplify the saving records, reduce tension from the tax season, and a free time to focus on their business in an increasing digital world.

“With the end of the deadline in April 2026, it is time to prepare.

“Join the early HMRC test program is a great way to recognize the system and ensure a smooth transition.

“If it is overwhelming, do not worry. Advice and support are available in Taxadvice.scot Or by calling 0800 756 3381. The request for help is the smart step to stay in the foreground. “
