The man who admitted to be guilty of second -degree killing on the death of Megan Gallagr wants a new trial.
Robert “Bobby” Thomas of First Class was charged with the death of Gallaghar in 2020. Last October, he admitted that he was guilty of the least charge, and was sentenced to life imprisonment without any chance of a conditional release for 18 years.
Last month, he submitted a request at the Court of Appeal in Saskatchewan to extend the permissible period to launch an appeal. Its 30 days of appeal passed in early January. The court must now decide whether to hear an appeal.
Nothing of this sits well with Brian and Dubai Gallagher.
“The reasons for us and our multi -faceted shock,” said Brian Gallagher on Friday.
Thomas acknowledged that he was guilty of the King’s Seat Court on October 7. Judge Daril Lapash confirmed on November 26 that Thomas gave a petition.
In his ruling on December 6, Thomas apologized to the Gallaghar family in the open court.
Deep Gallaghar is not sure why the Court of Appeal heard in the case.
“This makes you wonder about the date they say it is a 30 -day appeal period. This is three months after the truth,” she said.
In his notice of appeal, Thomas cited the “unspecified violations”, adding that he hopes “he will have a last opportunity to have a kind of life with my four children. They lost their mother because of an overdose in September 2024, so I want to make sure they have one of the parents to go to, and I feel that I have not had a state of fair issues as well.”
Gallaghar’s body in the South Saskatchewan River
Gallaghar, a 30 -year -old mother, has been more than four years ago in Saskaton. The last time she was seen leaving her friend’s house on September 19, 2020. Two years later, her body was found in the South Saskashuan River.
The Gallaghar family spent the overlapping years to search for it and hosted the annual walking to increase awareness of its disappearance.
In total, he faced nine people a variety of drawings regarding the death of Gallaghar:
- Henry Summer, Roderick Sarland and Sayyan Betitus were accused of first -class death. Henry and Billetos acknowledged that he was guilty of unintelled killing. Sutherland was set for trial later this year.
- Thomas Sarland was accused of wrongful killing, but remained.
- Ernst Vernon Whiteheed, 41, was sentenced to 739 days in prison for insulting human remains.
- Jessica Badger [Sutherland]44, a conditional sentence was given for a lesser two years a day on the same charge, which means that it serves it in society. After that, you will be under monitored for 18 months.
- John Wayne Sanderson was sentenced to 1096 days imprisonment for the same charge, minus 327 days for pre -this matter.
