The 6.3 earthquake was injured at least 20 people and caused severe damage to the Ecuadorian city of Esellas.
According to the European Mediterranean Seismic Center, the earthquake hit a depth of 30 km (18.64 miles) near the Ecuadorian coast at 6:44 local time on Friday (9:44 GMT).
The damaged earthquake caused homes and public buildings, caused widespread energy cuts, and led to the closure of some oil infrastructure temporarily.
President Daniel Nuboa said that he has published all government ministers in the province to coordinate the installation of shelters, provide humanitarian aid groups and “help in everything our people need.”
“The government is with you, and so we will move forward.”
Andres Mavary, 36, heard a loud crack while walking to the port, followed by a strong earthquake.
He told the news agency to Agence France Presse that he immediately ran home to try to find his wife and children. “I ran like madness, and when I got here, I saw that my house had been destroyed,” he said.
About 80 % of the houses were left without salad, according to the authorities.
