Fighting
- Russia has launched the largest drone attack on Ukraine since the beginning of the war, which destroyed homes and killed at least one woman, a day before US President Donald Trump discussed the proposed shooting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
- Ukraine Air Force said that Russia fired 273 drones in Ukrainian cities, more than the previous record in Moscow in February, on the third anniversary of the war.

Ukraine Military Intelligence Agency said that Russia intends to conduct a “training and control” for a ballistic missile to intimidate Ukraine and the West, with the continued ceasefire talks.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Russian forces had taken control of the Bahrir settlement in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine. He also said that the Russian forces had shot down 75 Ukrainian drones on Sunday, according to Russia’s news agency.
Conflict talks
- UK Prime Minister Kiir Starmer’s office said that the leaders of France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom have once again pressured the need for sanctions against Russia in a call with Trump before the top of his phone with Putin on Monday.
- Putin told Russian government television that he wanted to “eliminate the reasons that sparked” its war on Ukraine, “creating conditions for permanent peace and ensuring Russia’s security”, after two days of the first direct talks with Kiev since 2022 failed to produce the ceasefire deal.
- Ukrainian President Foludmir Zellinsky met with US Vice President JD Vance and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio in Rome, on the sidelines of the opening of Pope Liu XIV, to discuss the latest developments in the ceasefire talks with Russia. This was their first meeting since the hot White House meeting in February.
- The Pope held his first private audience as a Catholic leader with Zelinsky, after highlighting the hopes of peace for the “martyr Ukraine”.
