The comedian and actor Russell Brand appeared in front of the London Court on Friday on multiple charges of sexual assault, including two rape charges.
His appearance in the Westminster Court of the first, procedural judges was largely, in a move that is likely to be long criminal procedures. This comes a month after British prosecutors accused Mr. Brand of rape, one of the mouth rape, two accusations of sexual assault and another inappropriate attacks.
At approximately 9:20 am, Mr. Brand arrived at the field, wearing a black shirt that opened to show his chest, and sunglasses filled with gold. With many personal guards, he slowly walked to the court and did not address many correspondents and photographers present.
Prosecutors said in a press statement last month that the charges related to “non -evil crimes reported between 1999 and 2005, which included four women.”
The documents of the court related to the Friday session showed that one of the charges of sexual assault on a woman saying that Mr. Brand had touched her breasts and that the inappropriate charge of assault included a woman saying that Mr. Brand had dragged her towards a male toilet.
Mr. Brand denied all the charges. In a video posted on social media accounts in April, he said that “he has never participated in a non -high activity” and that he was looking to defend himself in court.
Stewart Nolan of the Association of Law, an organization representing British lawyers in Britain, said the first hearing in a criminal trial is “largely administrative.” On Friday, the judge said the judge will simply be the case to a Supreme Court, called the Crown Court, which deals with more serious crimes.
Mr. Nolan added that Mr. Brand will also be asked to confirm his name, address and date of birth, but he will not enter an appeal.
Mr. Nolan said that a hearing in the approval of guilt will take place within about a month, but the actual trial may begin only “a year from now” because of the accumulation of cases in the judicial system of Britain.
Mr. Brand became a star in Britain in the early first decade of the twentieth century with Stand-Up Hit menu and a TV and radio host. Later, after the period covered by the charges, he achieved fame in the United States, too, when he played the role in films including “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” (2008) and “accompanied him to Greek (2010).
In recent years, Mr. Brand has become known as the YouTube plot. Nearly seven million users share his channel, as Mr. Brand published clips on politics and news events such as the war in Ukraine.
Under British law, news outlets cannot identify anyone who is charged with sexual assault unless they choose to give up his right to not reveal his identity. After accusations, strict rules also prevent any information that may escape from the jury in the trial.
