Today, the United States is punishing the World Bank of Yemen YSC (IBY) for its financial support for the Houthis, as well as the main leaders or officials in IBY: Kamal Hussein al -Jabri, Ahmed Thabet Numan Al -Alasi, and Abd al -Hadir al -Bazara. This measure is part of a wider government effort to prevent Iran -backed Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and protect these critical waterways for global trade.
The United States is obligated to disable Houthi financial networks and bank access as part of our government’s full approach to eliminating the Iranian threat network. We are committed to supporting the efforts of the internationally recognized Yemeni government to ensure the country’s banking sector remains isolated from the impact of Houthi.
Today, according to the Anti -Terrorism Authority, the executive order (EO) 13224, in its amended form. The US State Department, Ansar Allah, as a specially dedicated global terrorist (SDGT) according to EO 13224, in its amended form, as of February 16, 2024.
