ROME (AP) – Pope Liu XIII announced itself on Sunday as he completed the final festive steps that strengthen his role as Rome’s bishop.
The first American Pope officially acquired Saint John Casselaica, the Rome Cathedral and the Architectural Seat, with an evening bloc attended by Roman priests and believers.
In his sermon, Liu said he wanted to listen to them “in order to learn, understand and identify things together.”
One of the many titles that Leo assumed when he was elected on May 8 was the bishop of Rome. Looking at his responsibilities that run the powerful Catholic Church of 1.4 billion people, the Popes are the representative of the daily governance of the Romanian diocese administration to a deputy.
The Sunday ceremony is followed in St. John Latran and stopped in St. Mary Megor Basilikas, Liu’s visit last week to Saint -Paul, outside Walls Basilica. Along with the Church of St. Peter in the Vatican, the four basilications are the most important basilica in the West.
The mayor of Rome, Roberto Galletere Liu, welcomed the steps of the city hall, noting that his elections on May 8 decreased during a sacred year, an event that happens every 25 years to invite pilgrims to Rome. The city has been subjected to two years of public works projects that download traffic to prepare and expect to welcome more than 30 million people in 2025.
Liu said he felt “dangerous but emotional responsibility” to serve all the Romans during the holy year and beyond.
Liu was wearing his official papal uniform, remembering the words he uttered from Logia, the Church of St. Peter, on his election night. Pope Augustine quoted St. Augustine, saying: “I am a Christian, and you, the bishop.”
“Through the special address, I can today say that for you and with you I am Roman!” He said.
The former Robert Brevost replaced Pope Francis, the first Pope in Latin America. Francis died on April 21 and was buried in St. Mary Megur, near the icon of Mahboub Madonna.
