In its last column, the chief inspector Eileen McA Arter Kerr, the local region commander in West Lithian, praised the memory of the Scottish fire and rescue service who were treating forest fires.
I want to start this week’s column with a support message for our colleagues in the Scottish fire and rescue service, who spent the last weekend in dealing with forest fires here in West Luthaan.
The last hot and dry weather played a major role in these emerging fires, but I really think we all have a vital role in stopping it in the first place.
For example, if you are cloudy inside the rural areas of West Lothian, please first make sure that it is legal to do so and that you are not an unwanted guest on the land of the owner.
Next, please refrain from starting fires for cooking food or keeping warmth. Regardless of your experience in camping, the possibility of fires spreads exceeds what you expect, or always prevails during sleep.

Whether you are cloudy, or you just enjoy the open air, please be aware when it comes to barbecue parties. Although some areas may allow the use of barbecues, it is important to cook them, then get rid of them properly.
Likewise, if you spend time in rural areas or forests in West Luthayan, remember to clean after yourself, basket, or recycle any of the garbage.
In periods of high temperature or strong sunlight, neglected glass can inflate the sun and light fire in dried debris, including garbage. Help us keep these external spaces safe for everyone to use.
Regarding the issue of the countryside, it is equally important for anyone looking to enjoy it, doing it correctly, strongly and safely.
There is no infringement law in Scotland, but this does not mean that there are no rules that must be followed on how and where it is appropriate to reach certain areas – if the farm animals are inside or if the maintenance or agricultural work is carried out.

Access Outdoor on Scotland has all the information you need to stay safe and within law parameters during any of your visits to the countryside, forests or forests. You can find that information in https://www.outdooraccess-scotland.scot/.
Regarding the proactive work that is being accomplished in our region, investigators and ordinary lieutenants who work as part of the pavement and Verion operations continue to follow up different parts of the intelligence received from the public, which helps us to target organized criminal activity.
These officers conduct an enforcement and disturbance activity targeting organized crime groups and I cannot confirm enough that the vital information coming from the Western Luthane residents is to bring these individuals to justice and alleviate the impact that can cause them to our societies.
If you have information related to the ongoing organized crime in your area, please contact us via 101, or submit an unknown report to charitable Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I also want to take this opportunity to repeat our home safety information, given this continuous period of spring/beautiful summer weather. If you are leaving your home not busy at any time, or when you retire in bed in the evening, please close all doors and windows.
Fresh air and cooling are great with temperatures reaching the mid -twenties, but it also provides potential thieves with chances if the doors and windows are left open when they are not there.
Please also keep cars, especially high -value cars away from doors and windows so that, if Housebreaker is able to reach your property, they do not immediately get your car.
What we often see is that the valuable cars that are stolen are either sold and another criminal activity financing or used to commit other crimes. Let’s not give the perpetrators an easy opportunity.
