There are no winners of the tariff war and China is not afraid of persecution, as Chinese President Xi Jinping said to visit Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Friday.
She was talking during his first meeting with a foreign leader since the introductory clashes between Beijing and Washington began.
Xi said: “There are no winners in the war of tariffs and standing against the world, ultimately leading to self -examination,” said Shi.
Sanchez was also the first European leader to visit China in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s announcement of the sweeping tariffs.
He visited the country three times within a little more than two years, which confirmed his declared ambition to help build a more balanced relationship between the European Union and China.
China was the second and final station of its Asian journey after Vietnam’s visit.
