Duond Street pledged that “preserving calm” could continue to negotiate a trade agreement with the United States, although Donald Trump imposes a 10 % tariff on UK imports.

“We need to end this trade war as quickly as possible – this means standing firmly with our allies against Trump’s attempts to divide and referee.
“The Prime Minister must bring our Commonwealth partners to bring together in an alliance of those who wish against the Trump tariff, using revenge definitions when necessary and signing new commercial deals together wherever it is possible.
“If the government surrenders to Trump’s threats, it will only encourage him to use the same bullying tactics over and over again.”
