On behalf of the United States of America, I wish all the Polish people a happy constitution.
When the great Sejm adopted the first modern constitution in Europe on May 3, 1791, it also recorded democratic principles on the young American Republic. These principles, which were boldly enumerated in the face of external threats, have united and inspired both countries for centuries.
Today, Poland and the United States stand together as partners in building a safer and more prosperous future for our people. Poland has greatly strengthened our joint security through its commitment to NATO and continues to host thousands of American service members. Our commercial relationship continues to prosper, and we look forward to continuing to enhance our energy safety cooperation.
Our common future did not seem brighter. I look forward to another year of standing together to support the values we share – freedom, prosperity, security and democracy.
