If we could take our pets everywhere, we totally would. Leaving them at home is a little scary; you just never know what could happen. Unofrtunately, it’s something we all have to do.
On Saturday, March 8th, one man was caught on camera bringing his adorable Siamese cat to a roller rink. The whole thing is genuinely just impressive and hilarious:
The cat may not have belonged to @kjonesy37, but I’m glad she caught it on video. This is wonderful!

The cat turned up at Skate City in Fargo, North Dakota, on Saturday night. Everyone likes to go out and have fun on Saturday, so it makes sense that the rink was popping off – but, admittedly, the cat swiftly skating along on his dad’s shoulder was new!
Thank goodness the comments of this video are full of locals, because several of them have come forward to say, “it’s Joe!” Apparently, Joe is a little bit of a local legend – he takes his cat with him as often as he can, including to buy a bow and arrows once, according to one person.
Joe even popped up in the comments! According to him, he’d brought his cat, Chugs, to the rink with no expectation of being let in. They let Chugs stay for about 45 minutes, when Joe wiped out and he got loose. After that, it was time for them to go, but they had a great time!
How to Safely Bring Your Cat In Public
Joe is a legend, but he’s not the greatest example of ways to bring your cat in public. Though Chugs is wearing a harness, his leash is dangling as Joe skates, which worked fine until he got loose.
Many places that allow dogs won’t allow cats, even if they say they’re “pet-friendly.” The thought process is that cats behave differently than dogs; they’re less-trained, more “invasive,” and a little harder to control. Before you try to bring your cat anywhere, you should call ahead and ask if they’d be allowed in.
From there, you have several options:
You should do what’s most comfortable for your cat, and even if you go for a backpack/carrier, try to make sure you have a collar and ID tag on them It’s better to be safe than sorry, as I’m sure joe knows!
