When people think about Black British history, London is often seen as its cultural heart. “We there” seeks to change this perception by studying the missing history of Britain’s rich black history outside London.
From the northern spirit of Wigan to political activity in Cardiff during the years of Tashcher, the book seeks to reshape a black life. We meet its author, Lanre Bakare, in his hometown of Bradford – the city of culture this year – which re -discovering its forgotten black history.
