Today, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio spoke with Equadorian President Daniel Nuboa to congratulate him on his re -election and discuss accelerating our partnerships to advance in American national security and mutual priorities. The Secretary praised the Ecuadorian people in free and fair elections and the implementation of a transparent, democratic and peaceful electoral process. It sheds light on our joint commitment to protecting the citizens of both countries by confronting drugs, through national criminal organizations, illegal immigration, drugs, and the malicious foreign influence on our hemisphere. They also discussed economic growth in both countries and their strategy to face regional challenges, as in Haiti and Venezuela.
