The horrific images show the abandoned station, the decomposing passages, and even the unpopular aircraft for decades.

Nicosia International Airport was built in the twenties of the twentieth century as a base for the British Royal Air Force, an important role in World War II, as it was a major stop for military and civil trips.

By the fifties and sixties, it has become a major gateway to tourists, and even attracts Hollywood celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor.

But in 1974, the conflict between the Greek and Turkish forces destroyed them, and later giving up.

The airport was officially closed to trade flights after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, leaving the rot from there.

In 1977, the last commercial flights left Nicosia airport under the United Nations Private Ear, when British Airways engineers regained three ways in Cyprus Airways and drove them to London.

Now the airport is located inside a United Nations protected area and remains largely aligning the public.

But this did not prevent urban explorers from visiting the site with its deteriorating greatness and historical importance.

Ben, 31, who publishes the online adventure content, went to the airport alone to show his haunting remains.

He said: “I wanted to explore this for three years.

“I decided to go and see it because it is clear that it is a very interesting historical site.

“I saw pictures of her, and I wanted to see her personally.”

Bin described the site as a chilling time capsule, which has not been largely touched by it since the 1970s.

He added: “The most exciting thing about this was that he had not touched it since 1974.

“I never explored an abandoned airport before, and the fact that it still has crazy planes.

“It was a realistic time capsule. Anyone can see it, and this is amazing.”

The haunting images act as a blatant reminder of the history of Cyprus, where the airport stands as a ghost monument on a conflict that reshapes the island.

Despite its strange silence, Nicosia International Airport is still a strong symbol of the past.
