Gurnee, Ill.
Daniel Loubu, 22, was at home to spend the Thanksgiving holiday when he was shot and killed after 12 am on November 20, 2021.
Anger on the road escalated near the intersection of Waveland and GrandView Avenue Street when one vehicle opened the fire.
Loubu, who was a passenger in the second car, was hit in the back. He was transferred to the Vista East Medical Center in Wokjan, where he later died.
“Daniel Loubu was preparing to graduate later in the spring. His life was meaningless in a moment of violence that shocked society,” said the Journey Police Administration.
The Gurny Police Department, along with the main crime business squad in Lake County, launched an investigation into the accident. Criminal charges against Llovani Gomez have been approved with regard to shooting.
Gomez, 36 years old from Chicago, is currently being held due to an unrelated crime. He was accused of the following:
- First degree killing
- Attempt to kill first degree
- The strict emptying of a firearm
“This represents an important step in pursuing justice to Daniel and his family,” said Brian Smith, Police chief of Journal, said. “From the moment this tragedy occurred, our division has been committed to revealing the truth and holding the officials.”
