Howard University appoints Dr. Lancea S. Ketchner to lead global participation and diaspora

*Howdard University was appointed Dr. Lanisa S. Ketchner As the first vice president of the participation of Global and DiasPora, a newly created leading role that will focus on strengthening international initiatives of the university, especially its partnerships and programs related to Africa and African diaspora. It will work under the president’s office, according to a press statement.
The establishment of this position reflects the largest university strategy to amplify its international presence and deepen its relations in the African continent and its global societies.
“The university recently established a strategic initiative to enhance our focus on Africa and African diaspora and enhance the global influence of the university,” said Ben Vinson III, President of Howard University. “The relationship between Dr. Ketner’s deep with Howard, as well as her wealth from her experience in international education, cultural diplomacy, and strategic leadership, is uniquely placed in promoting the global participation and impact of the university.”
A Goward Alemna is proud, Dr. Ketchner holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science and PhD. In African studies and research, with specialization in art, history and culture. Its impressive professional background extends to leadership roles in some of the most famous institutions in the country.
Recently, global operations at the Center for African Studies at the University of Harvard, where it led initiatives in the United States and South Africa. Her work included managing grants funded and coordinated development efforts. At the Library of Congress, the African and Middle East section headed, and directing the difference in organizing groups that explore regional dates and diaspora. Its time at the National Museum of African Art of the Smithsonian Foundation witnessed its educational and exhibition programs that emphasized the dialogue between cultures.
Ketchner previously worked at the Ralph Bonche International Center in Howard, where she helped launch international initiatives and important exhibitions, including permanent honor for the Nobel Peace Diploma that was named the center.
Returning to Howard, she expressed her sense of goal and pride.
“It is a great honor to return to Mika for the purpose of participating in her wedding with the world and bringing the wonderful house in the world to the campus,” Kechner said. “Howard is a beacon of excellence with an incredibly rich legacy in building bridges, breaking barriers, and bypassing limits to improve humanity. I can’t think about a higher professional invitation or a greater reason to perpetuate the full force of my passion and my experience.”
This date is part of the constant commitment of Huard to scholarships and global communication, which enhances its role as a center for African participation and diaspora.
