French cinema star Gerard Depardio was convicted by the Paris Court on Tuesday for sexual assault on two women working on a movie group that was playing his role in 2021.
The judge also spent that Mr. Depadieu is now 76 years old, pays damage of 15,000 euros, about $ 17,000, to one of the two victims and 14,040 euros, including its medical fees, to the other.
Mr. DePardieu was not in court to judge. His lawyer, Jeremy Ajour, said he would resume.
The referee was welcomed by the victim’s lawyer as a prominent victory for French women in the #Metoo world.
“For me, it is a victory, really,” said one of the two victims, who agreed to identify it only with its first name, Ameli. “We are moving forward.”
Her lawyer, Karen Dorio Despewt, said she hopes that the verdict will mean “the end of impunity for artists in the film industry.”
“I have heard some actors who still support DePardieu recently. Now with this ruling, no one can say Gérard Depaardieu is not a sexual predator, and this is very important.”
The two victims made them on the movie “Les Volets Verts”, a French movie 2021 starring Mr. Depardieu – Amélie, as a specific decoration, and the other prosecutor, who did not agree to publicize it publicly, as an assistant director.
The court heard that Mr. DePardieu grabbed Amélie from the waist and pulled it towards it one day while sitting. Then he closed it between his legs and ran his hands on the buttocks and genitals and breasts while the researchers muttered.

The actor said that he was not “the vulgar, rude, and dictionary mocking the people” that were filmed as in the media. “I respect people. I love helping people,” he said to the court in March.

One of them, Lusail Lider, said that the actor assaulted her several times when she worked as a fashion assistant in 2014.
She told the court: “I remembered a saying no in a low voice, but Gerard Depardio does not know this word,” she said to the court. “This man is dangerous,” she said. “Everyone around him knows this and does not do anything.”
