The text of the following statement was issued by the foreign ministers in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and the high representative of the European Union.
The text begins:
We and Ministers abroad at General Motors in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and the European Union’s high representative are their deep concern about the provocative measures of China, especially military training on Taiwan.
These frequent and annoying activities increase increasing tensions across the strait and are at risk of global security and prosperity.
G7 members and the largest international community have the interest in preserving peace and stability through the Taiwan Strait. We oppose any unilateral actions to threaten such peace and stability, including force or coercion.
The seven group members continue to encourage peaceful issues through the interrupted construction dialogue.
