The family’s friendly fun day ended with the arrival of the bombs after the discovery of the World War II bomb.
The event that discovers the minerals at the Thorland Castle descended near Tonstal, Lancashire, into chaos when the very explosive weapon was discovered.

The 36 MK I bomb was introduced at the end of World War I, and the standard British retail bomb remained until 1972.
