The right -wing Nuboa defeated the left -wing candidate Louisa Gonzalez, amid allegations of electoral fraud.

Daniel Nuboa, the youngest president ever in Ecuador, has performed a prominent wealth in bananas, his first constitutional oath in his position, pledged to intensify his government’s battle against strong drug gangs while reviving the struggling economy.

At a ceremony held at the National Assembly in Kito on Saturday, the right -wing president, the right -wing constitutional oath Nils Olsen Pitt, who designed the presidential scarf across his shoulders before the two rose in a symbolic gesture of the unit.

Nubua, 37, won the elections in April, when he won a new state after the end of the last 18 months of his predecessor, and defeated the left candidate, Louisa Gonzalez, despite its allegations of electoral fraud.

Speaking to the legislators, Nuboa pledged a sharp decrease in the crimes of violence in the cornerstone of his administration.

“The gradual reduction in murders will be a negotiable goal,” Nuboa announced. “We will maintain our battle against drug trafficking, and we shake illegal weapons, ammunition and explosives, and more control in the country’s ports.”

Ecuador, which was considered one of the most stable countries in the region, has faced a sharp rise in violence, with drug cartridges, including the powerful of Mexico, and took advantage of the porous borders and weak institutions to expand their influence.

Noboa responded to the military repression, deployed the armed forces in the streets and tightened security in the main infrastructure centers.

The president’s security strategy led to comparisons with controversial measures in El Salvador, which some praised for reducing crime but condemned by rights groups due to mass arrests and alleged violations.

Nubua El Salvador, as well as the United States and Israel, was martyred as strategic partners in the Ecuador security reform.

His administration also rented Eric Prince, the founder of the Blackwater military contractor, to advise the Ecuadorian security forces, a move that raised anxiety between opposition politicians and human rights advocates, who warn of creeping militarization and a lack of censorship.

While Nubua had a 15 % decrease in violent deaths during 2024, government numbers show an increase of 58 percent in killings during the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, with 3,094 registered deaths.
