Penson held the position of secretary of the American Cinema Editor and made history in 1991 by becoming the first African American woman to join honorary society. In appreciation of her contributions to industry, she won the Job Achievement Award in 2022. In addition, she was honored with the fellowship and respected service award by the Animated Photo Editor Syndicate.
In 1991, the original New Yorker of Amy was nominated for her work in the famous “Eyes on the Award II”.
Throughout her career, she contributed to the films that collectively won five Emmy nominations, four Peabody Awards, and many other awards.
“This year is especially useful because we honor Lillian Benson, who helped his career in paving the way for many and whose commitment to guidance is the formation of a new generation of artists,” says Leslie Fields-Croz, CEO of PVM.
When thinking about her most influential projects, Benson emphasized the deep influence of the “Eyes on the Award” series in addition to a convincing documentary film on the late legendary Congress member John Lewis. These works played a vital role in forming a conversation about civil rights and social justice.

The BPM event is the culmination of the Pitchblack Forum, the country’s largest competition for independent and creative directors who create black content, which begins on Wednesday, April 30, in Harlem.
