The United States has a sensitive nuclear technology at a nuclear power plant inside Ukraine, and Russia warns not to touch it, according to a message, the US Energy Ministry was sent to Rosatom last month to the nuclear energy company in Russia last month.
In the letter, which was reviewed by CNN and its history on March 17, 2023, the director of the non -proliferating policy office, Andrea Ferqil, informs the general manager of Rosatom that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear factory in the United States of Stone.
Goods, programs and technology are subject to US export controls when they can be used in a way that undermines US national security services.
The speech of the Ministry of Energy comes at a time when the Russian forces continue to control the factory, which is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and sits in part of the Zaburisia region occupied by Russia after its invasion of Ukraine last February. Often the factory was separated from the energy network in Ukraine due to the severe Russian bombing in the region, raising concerns across Europe of a nuclear accident.
While the factory is still being physically managed by Ukrainian employees, he runs Rosatom. In the letter, the Ministry of Energy has warned in the letter that it is “illegal” for any Russian citizens or entities of dealing with American technology.
CNN contacted Rosatom to comment.
It is not clear whether Rosatome has responded to the message. The National Nuclear Security Department of the Ministry of Energy told CNN in a statement that the message was authentic.
The messages were first reported by the RBC news port.
“The National Nuclear Security Department of the Ministry of Energy can confirm that the message is legitimate.”
She added: “The Minister of Energy bears the legal responsibility to clarify the transmission of non -classified civilian nuclear technology and assistance to foreign atomic energy activities. The Ministry of Energy does not comment on organizational activities.”
Another message from Ferkile to the Ministry of Energy inspector, which was reviewed by CNN and the date of October 24, 2022, is determined by the technology that the United States made to Ukraine for use in the Zaporizhzhia factory and repeated that the administration “has no record of any current authorization to transfer this technology and technical data to any Russian citizen or pulmonary.”
The Nuclear Energy Office of the Ministry of Energy was public on the United States’ support for the factory, and I mentioned on its website in June 2021 “The United States helped implement new maintenance procedures and operations in the reactor that should eventually enhance energy security” in Ukraine.
