Adidas warns that sneakers will cost more in the United States with the ease of definitions in Trump

The German sports company Adidas said on Tuesday that the increase in customs tariffs will lead to the high prices of its sports shoes and sportswear for American clients.

“Since we are currently unable to produce almost any of our products in the United States, these high tariffs will eventually lead to the high costs of all of our products in the American market,” said Bjorn Golden, CEO of the company, on Tuesday in a call with analysts.

Mr. Golden said Adidas has sent an additional inventory to the United States to remove customs before entering customs duties, but added that the company will eventually feel an increase in the basic duty of 10 percent of President Trump for all imports.

“The increase in cost due to the high customs tariff will eventually lead to an increase in prices,” he said. “But it is currently impossible to define it or deduce the effect of this on the consumer’s demand on our products.”

Adidas has also brought some products made in China and present to the United States to other markets, which are expected to become more important to the company in the wake of the growing trade war between global superpowers.

American sales increased in the first three months of the year by only 3 percent, due to the exit from the last sports shoes in the famous Yeezy line, which was developed with a young rapper, who was previously known as Kanye West, as part of the cooperation that ended in 2022.

In Europe, sales increased by 14 percent in the first three months of the year, while sales in China grew 13 percent.

The company, which is based in Herozorenic in southern Germany, said it was refraining from issuing a look at the whole year, noting the inability to predict the definitions, which affect many countries, including Indonesia and Vietnam, where Adidas produces many of its shoes and sports profit.

“In” a normal world, “Mr. Golden said, that the results of the first company would have raised the level of expectations to obtain revenues and operating profit for 2025, but” the uncertainty regarding American definitions has now been stopped stopping this. “
