A victim of the attack that brought his anger at his girlfriend was imprisoned.

The Hamilton Sharif court listened to Mark Ternny who attacked the woman for a sustainable period through punching, kicking and suffocating her, and hitting her with a candle.

Terney, 29, admitted that he was assaulted at his home on Bogside Road, Ashgill, between 9 and 11 May last year.

He also confessed to kicking a police officer during his arrest.

Aga Matthenson, the prosecution, said that the police received an unknown report on a woman screaming with clear pain.

They went to the Bogside road and met a friend of the woman, who said that Tirney was beaten “from” her boyfriend.

Ms. Matthesson told the court: “The victim told the officers that Tirney had repeatedly and kicked you.

“She suffocated her to the extent that she could not breathe.

“I threw a candle that hit it on the ankle.

“The victim did not want to deal with the police because she was afraid that the accused would kill her.

“She refused to go to the hospital, although her face was very swollen.

“Its ankle was also swollen and was struggling to put weight on it.”

The officers arrested Terney and noticed that he cut off his eyebrow and his face swelling.

Defense lawyer, Stephen Mcwellan, said that Terney was attacked by people at his door, adding: “He suffered a bad injury and took it on his partner, which is unacceptable.

“He admits that he must change his ways or will spend more time in prison in the coming years.”

Sherif Louise Galakher Terney prison for two years, but the sentence was late as he was in reservation since his arrest last May.

Sharif ordered him to be under the supervision of social work for a year when he is released.

I told him: “There will be intense support for you.”

Terney should stay away from his ex -girlfriend for five years under an inactive order.
