Most travelers may agree that going to the airport’s security examination is an experiment that falls somewhere on a fun counter between going to the dentist and paying taxes.
To avoid this less than Sarah’s experience, about 20 million passengers joined the TSA Prechek program, according to the latest data from the Transportation Safety Management.
The program, which was launched in 2013, is “waiting times less than 10 minutes, the efficiency of a larger checkpoint and improving security.”
However, newly released research from the upgrade points, a travel and credit card supplier, revealed that although waiting time “less than 10 minutes” with TSA Prechack, many of the program members suffer from long time tables.
Based on a survey that included 1517 Americans conducted this year, the research found that TSA Prechek members do not necessarily walk through security as the program is.
More specifically, members of the survey said that the average time for treatment of the security examination they experience is closer to 36 minutes. This is just 7 minutes faster than travelers who have no precheck and reported the average treatment time of 43 minutes.
Moreover, the research indicates that the timing is not necessarily the upper appeal to the TSA Prechck membership in the eyes of travelers.
Instead, this low stress -related stress may be at the airport as a TSA Precha member.
The research shows that people with Preck say that their airport stress levels are reduced in half because of their membership. These travelers themselves evaluate stress when passing through traditional security lines at 7.4 on the stress scale from 1 to 10. However, the levels of tension from the surveyed travelers decrease to only 3.5 of 10 when it is in the TSA Preck examination line.
In addition, when asked about the benefits of the most important TSA Preck members, 38.7 % of travelers said that the low stress associated with the airport is the first benefit.
Meanwhile, the shorter airport examination lines came second, with 34.4 % of travelers included in the survey that it was the most important benefit for TSA Prechk membership.
“Even if precheck provides a lot of time, travelers still love the peace of mind with which she comes,” Kyle Pierlin, a researcher at the promoted points that led the study, told Travelpulse: “I think this makes people feel that they are doing everything they can to make security easier.”
This point confirming, 94 % of Preck holders who participated in the upgraded points survey said that their membership improved the total airport experience, and 92 % said the cost of membership of $ 78 is worth the service.
“In addition, there are real privileges such as not having to get things out of your bag, the ability to bring your young children with you, and not strip them to naked feet and short sleeves. This certainly helps reduce stress.”
In fact, about 11.5 % of travelers said that the ability to maintain their shoes during the airport examination process was the most important value of the TSA Precha members, followed by 11.1 % who said that lack of having to remove laptops or liquids from portable luggage is the highest benefit.
Ironically is that going to the airport’s security examination without TSA Prechack is more stressful for those who suffer from membership. When they are asked to assess the extent of its tension through the security of the airport without TSA Prechack (again on a scale from 1 to 10), TSA Prechek members classified the process 7.3. However, travelers who are not members of TSA Prechack said that the traffic process through security does not reach 5.5 out of 10 on the stress scale.
Time spent at airports: TSA Prechack versus non -members
When returning to how TSA Precheck’s membership affects the time of the traveler he spends at the airport, the search provides some additional data points.

Of course, there is a preliminary data point about TSA Prechck’s membership just reduces the airport time by about average.

“First, TSA Prechack is available in more than 200 airports, so it is possible that smaller and less operated airports will decrease,” Pierlin told Travelpulse.
He added: “But most travelers are going through larger axes, as waiting times are usually longer.”
Moreover, the number of people with TSA Prechak membership is increasing, and as a result, expedited screening lines for the program have become less exclusive.
There may be another variable in playing as well, as Pierlin admitted: both TSA and travelers who were surveyed for the research of the points that were promoted are just an estimate.
“TSA did not say exactly how they calculated their time, and our travelers come out of memory, so there is room for some fluctuations on both sides,” he said. “However, people are completely clear: they usually do not pass in less than 10 minutes. They usually feel at least three times.”

“In general, the reality may be somewhere in the middle: at smaller airports, it may be at least 10 minutes, but in the largest, especially during crowded times, it is often 30 minutes or more,” Pierlin said.
