I learned that four former Hong Kong lawmakers convicted of a prominent sabotage case included 47 activists early April 29, and became the first batch of defendants who were released after a security trial and the longest in the city.

Gary Van Cook Way, Cook Ke Ki, and Jeremy Tamm Man Ho -Claudia Mu Mancing, each of whom were sentenced to four years and two months in prison last November, was in pretrial detention since March 2021.

The sources said on Tuesday that the four will be released “early in April 29” and planned “to stay low key and decrease media interviews” when they were released.

Van, 58, spends his term in Chic Beck prison, while his colleagues are 63 -year -old and 49 years old, respectively – in Stanley Prison. Mo, 68, detained at Lo Wu Correctional Foundation.

They were among the 45 politicians and former activists convicted and ruled to conspire by sabotaging the governmental authority under the National Security Law that was renewed in Beijing for their involvement in illegal legislative elections in 2020.

The four, who have admitted that they were guilty of sabotage and receiving the prison, will be released on April 29, although they were not allowed to reduce the penalty by a third as shown in the city’s national security decree.
