On the day of the independence of Cuba, I want to express my steadfast support and solidarity of the Cuban people. I praise all those who stood against more than six decades of brutal repression, control and human rights violations by the illegal Cuban regime. Cuba is still free, democratic, and prosperous, a beacon of hope and resistance to the world. Today we honor their sacrifices, courage and flexibility.
