Water delivery operations in Mexico and steps to meet the requirements of the water treaty for the year 1944
At the conclusion of the discussions of the United States of Mexican, which was held in April with regard to the delivery of the Mexico Treaty in Rio Grande water to the United States, Mexico committed to actions to reduce the shortages of water delivery operations in Mexico by the end of the five water cycle on October 24. The United States has accepted the Mesico proposal in the feature of multiple water delivery, ensuring a procedure for diversification of the water cost. These delivery operations will come at the front of 110,000 acres of water already made in the current year of water that started on October 25, 2024. Mexico’s commitment:
- An immediate transmission of water in the amistad Dam, followed by monthly transfers in the two international tanks (amistad and Falcon Dam);
- An increase in the US share of flows in six Grande Grandi’s Migrades in the 1944 US Water Treaty;
- Additional delivery to the water of the San Juan River, taking into account the acceptance of the United States for delivery when it can be used useful.
- Mexico and the United States will meet in July to assess hydrological conditions to follow up and evaluate the action taken.
- Mexico and the United States will hold ongoing meetings to develop a plan that Mexico will form its inability for this five -year session and for the regular connections that can be relied upon in the next five -year cycle for the benefit of users in Texas.
